Here's another shitty 70's robot for ya. I was almost convinced he was not a man in a suit until I looked at his hands. Is "Super voc" wearing a wedding ring?

So I'm flying home to see the parental units for a week or so...I think my family still have dial up, so blogging will be less frequent as dial up plus tblog equals slowest internet ever. But where my parents live happens to be the most boring horribly mundane place in the United States, so I will be back out of sheer boredom. I am actually relieved to be getting out of NYC for the Republican national convention. I am already seeing the hordes of republican fanatics with their stupid fanny packs infesting Manhattan like locusts. And the police force is ridiculous! You'd think the president was coming to town. I'm out of here. Hopefully NYC won't be a smoking rubble heap in 10 days. I know some of my friends are planning to protest, and I encourage them to take pictures. I'll post them. Peace suckas, I'm out. See you on the other side.

Wow, this made me laugh! I had to watch it more than once. This is an ad for a counter republican convention organization, and it is fucking hillarious. Some young Republicans inspired by the evil goons in the White House tell how they'll take the Big Apple. watch it here

this is taken from the fantastically retro "Buck Rogers in the 25th century". Here Buck is pictured with his deep voiced robot life parter, "Twiki". What Buck is pointed at, who knows. I think he is just trying to ditch the robot and go get some space ass.

Well I can't afford champagne, and caviar tastes like crap, but I am partying. Yes folks, today my vacation starts officially. For the next 2 weeks and change yours truly is doing a whole lotta nothing! Ah, nothing, you're the best. Today I watched the totally unfuturistic Buck Rogers in the 25th century and now am watching Dirty Harry. Dirty Harry is not afraid to shoot people in the head and in the back while they are running away from him! Are cops allowed to do that? I missed my TV. I missed it like a long lost brother. I've been working so hard that I forgot how to be a lazy bastard, which I really missed...So peace out, working world.. I'm Audi 5000.

Rap Lyrics Translated

This made me laugh. Someone took the song "Big Poppa" by Notorious BIG and translated it into proper English. Here's an excerpt:

Lyrics:

And my jam knock in the Mitsubishi
Girls pee pee when they see me, Nava-hoes creep me in they tee pee
As I lay down laws like I lay carpet
Stop it - if you think your gonna make a profit

TRANSLATION:

I enjoy playing my music loudly on my car stereo. Apparently, women enjoy this also because they become sexually aroused when they see me driving. Oddly enough, when I visit the Native American reservations, some of the more sexually promiscuous Indian women attempt to seduce me in their homes. Their intent is to divest me of my earnings. Such actions are unacceptable.

This guy is a preacher named Berry Handley, part of Team Impact. The pretty much are a bunch of guys pumped up on Creatine and Christianity who smash stuff, and display their superstrength in between talking about God. Talk about a strange combination. Here's a blurb from their website:

"Team Impact is a group of world class athletes who use feats of strength to convey a world class message. These men have literally stood in front of millions, preaching the Gospel and have seen thousands upon thousands of men, women, boys and girls make the life changing decision to follow Christ."

wow. I'd give a dollar in the collection tray if people smashed stuff in front of me. Good show. Here's a video from their site: http://www.team-impact.com/vi...

Sorry to all of you that check here often, I've been slackin on the blog. Alot of work, thats all.. Those who know me know I am an Olympian of slack, so this shouldn't surprise you.. but slacking and cutting corners is what blogging is all about. If I had real talent/drive/ambition/abi lity I would sit down and read a book on HTML and learn how to make a cool website with lasers and shit, but life moves fast, and it takes a long time to code lasers. Even if I had a lot of money to call real Varsity geeks to come and put lasers on my blog for me, that would take money and an attention span: 2 things I lack. So this is what you get, people. Love it.

I Haven't spiked up in the blog vein for a few days now, and even though I really don't have much to say it still feels good. I finally got my car back on Saturday, and that was an experience in itself. I went to the tow lot with my roomate Frank, and after paying 330 dollars to a man with no neck, a guy named Butch (judging from the tattoo) drove us to my car. We got in the car, and there was a note on the glove compartment that said "If you ain't my wife or my daughters and you are a woman in this car, you are a fucking whore". It really said that! I shit you not. While triyng to figure out what the deal with the sign was, he turned on the radio and out came a song I would never expect a guy like Butch to play. The "Everybody dance now" song by C & C Music Factory! I felt like I was eating acid. It was all so strange. And the music was wicked loud! Bumping in the back seat, I could feel my mind going watching Butch smoke a butt like a Hell's Angel...When we got to the lot, Butch told the barking pitbulls in cages to "shut up" which we thought was sweet. Butch obviously had a heart of gold. This place was a car graveyard. There was an old Ice cream truck, Smashed cars of all shapes and sizes, and a mustang that had been there for 4 years. Anyway, after alot of bs I finally got my car back, and now I'm gonna sell it. The amount of dough I've thrown into that piece of crap I could have had a Benz by now. So who wants to buy a 97 honda civic with a checkered history of theft, crashes, disrepair, and more tows than I can count? Any takers? :D

Gene blocking turns monkeys into workaholics Wednesday, August 11, 2004 Posted: 6:57 PM EDT

Monkeys, like humans, "normally slack off initially in working toward a distant goal," says Barry Richmond of the National Institute of Mental Health.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) --

Procrastinating monkeys were turned into workaholics using a gene treatment to block a key brain compound, U.S. researchers reported on Wednesday.

Blocking cells from receiving dopamine made the monkeys work harder at a task -- and they were better at it, too, the U.S. government researchers found.

Dr. Barry Richmond and colleagues at the National Institute of Mental Health used a new genetic technique to block the D2 gene.

"The gene makes a receptor for a key brain messenger chemical, dopamine," Richmond said in a statement. Dopamine is a message carrying chemical associated with rewards, movement and a variety of other important functions.

"The gene knockdown triggered a remarkable transformation in the simian work ethic. Like many of us, monkeys normally slack off initially in working toward a distant goal," he added.

For their study, Richmond and colleague used seven rhesus monkeys. They had to push a lever in response to visual cues on a projection screen, and got a drop of water as a reward.

"They work more efficiently -- make fewer errors -- as they get closer to being rewarded. But without the dopamine receptor, they consistently stayed on-task and made few errors, because they could no longer learn to use visual cues to predict how their work was going to get them a reward."

Writing in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Richmond and colleagues said they were trying to figure out how D2 is involved in a type of learning.

Humans and monkeys both use this learning, which involves looking at how much work there is, visually, and deciding how long it will take to complete it.

Monkeys and humans both tend to wait until the last possible minute to finish up the work, and become very adept at estimating how long they have.

Molecular geneticist Edward Ginns created a DNA antisense agent that tricked brain cells into turning off their D2 receptors -- which are molecular doorways used by dopamine to get into cells.

Antisense involves making a kind of mirror image molecule that looks like a strand of DNA and works to block a gene's action.

Although some employers might take a distinct interest in the work, the NIMH team said they are hoping to understand mental illness.

"In this case, it's worth noting that the ability to associate work with reward is disturbed in mental disorders, including schizophrenia, mood disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorder, so our finding
of the pivotal role played by this gene and circuit may be of clinical interest," Richmond said.

"For example, people who are depressed often feel nothing is worth the work. People with obsessive-compulsive disorder work incessantly; even when they get rewarded they feel they must repeat the task. In mania, people will work feverishly for rewards that aren't worth the trouble to most of us."

Blogs are weird.I noticed some people that used to link to me no longer do, and some people just don't seem to come round here no more..I have alot of people that come to this blog every day, but very few from Tblog. It can't be because they hate monkeys..(that is absolute crazy talk). Hate and monkey should never even be in the same paragraph together! I wonder why..hmmm. Luckily for my nerd ego there is a die hard crew of nutbags that constantly visit, filling my hollow existence with false perceptions of friendship and comradary. And the constant shit talking makes my mundane days fly by! So cheers to all of you..And for the nonbelievers out there, here is a picture of a dog in pants.

Monkey On My Back
08.06.04 (10:01 am)   [edit]

My car is such a burden. Whether it's being towed, crashed into, peed on, or stolen, it's just such a fucking weight on my shoulders. Sure it's nice to have a ride, and it's nice to have options when you wake up late for work and get into the car and drive in, but it can be such a pain. Like today. The other day I parked it in front of a house/office in my neighborhood. It was half a foot in front of a non-active driveway. The driveway couldn't even fit a car in it, so I figured it was fine. And I went to go move it this morning and it's gone. I called the stupid bastard who lives in the building it was in front of, but no answer. I called the tow lot, they don't have it either. I'm afraid to talk to the guy because he's a hypnotist (judging by the stupid sign in front of his shitty house) and he might turn me into some kind of zombie man. Well he better answer when I call him next. Or else I''ll call him 57 times a day. Good luck trying to hypnotize people when I'm blowing your phones up, dick head. What a way to start a Friday!! I have to try to not let this get me down, the weekend is too much fun to be in a slump..I just hope it didn't get stolen!! Well, Any suggestions?

And much to his surprise, it cleared! And the best part is the check was for 95,000 dollars!! Read how he eventually was discovered, fought back, and became a cult hero...
